Here are some of this week’s legislative updates from the Chamber Action Network blog:

  • Small Group Reforms Moving
    Legislation to introduce market-based reforms into the Small Group Health Insurance Plan were voted out of the Senate Finance Committee this week.
  • Cuts and More Cuts
    The House of Delegates is concluding work on the state budget today with over $500 million in general fund budget cuts recommended to bring the fiscal year 2010 budget into balance.
  • Consumer Contracts at Risk
    HB 1048, which has passed the House of Delegates, would weaken the ability of businesses to enforce consumer contracts in the event of a consumer default and subject businesses to penalties as an Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practice.
  • Chamber Supports Environmental Standing Legislation with Amendments
    The Maryland Chamber of Commerce yesterday delivered testimony in support with amendments on environmental standing legislation HB 1053, an updated version of SB 824/HB 1569.
  • Businesses Oppose Electricity Reregulation
    The Maryland Chamber joined a group of business leaders this week to voice their opposition to electricity reregulation in Maryland.
