Ravens President Dick Cass to Keynote Small Business Luncheon

by Will Burns on May 18, 2010

Baltimore Ravens President Dick Cass will be the keynote speaker for the Maryland Chamber’s Small Business of the Year Awards Luncheon on Thursday, June 3. You don’t have to be a football buff to enjoy the insights Cass will share.

He will discuss the business of professional football and what it takes to run the Baltimore Ravens. Many of you know the players. Cass will talk about the unsung members of the Baltimore Ravens organization. The sales and marketing teams help the Ravens generate the revenue needed to compete with larger market teams. The player personnel staff helps identify the most talented players to ensure team success. The administration and operations staff makes sure the organization runs smoothly and game day is a an outstanding experience for fans. The front office manages complicated league and labor issues.

From recruiting and retaining talent, to marketing and sales, to brand and reputation management, running the Ravens is similar to running a small business.

Now in his sixth year as president of the Ravens, Cass oversees every area of the organization, including player and staff personnel, the coaching team, corporate sales, communications and business ventures.

In addition to hearing the keynote from Cass, attendees will also:

  • Honor Small Business Achievement: The Small Business of the Year Awards program will recognize the dedication, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by Maryland’s small businesses. The program will celebrate the success of three small businesses, one non-profit partner in business and one large company partner in business. View this year’s finalists.
  • Network: Bring a stack of business cards. There will be plenty of time for networking with small business executives from throughout the State.
  • Browse the Small Business Trade Show: The trade show will feature exhibitors with products and services tailored to meet the needs of small and mid-sized businesses.
