Maryland Chamber – In Reality

by Will Burns on September 1, 2010

The Maryland Chamber: In Reality Episode One from Storyfarm New Media on Vimeo.

New Maryland Chamber of Commerce member Storyfarm New Media is partnering with us to create a monthly reality video series chronicling the company’s first year of membership.

The goal of the video series is to call attention to the many ways the Maryland Chamber helps member companies grow, while working to enhance the state’s economy and business climate. Follow along as Storyfarm Managing Partner John Sherman attends Maryland Chamber events, connects with other members, gets involved in Chamber committees and activities, and learns more about the organization’s legislative advocacy efforts in Annapolis.

We’re pretty excited about this new collaboration, and we hope you find it entertaining and informative. This new format is being pioneered by Storyfarm, and we think it’s a great fit to showcase our efforts and get real-time feedback about our events and activities.

In the first episode, Sherman begins the series by going to the joint Marketing and Membership committee meeting at McCormick & Company headquarters in Sparks. Watch as John makes new contacts, learns about the Chamber’s legislative agenda for 2011, and shares what it’s like to be be a part of it from a newcomer’s perspective.

Thank Will,

I am always in favor of championing the Chamber.

I think having a video that provides some insight into the good work, advocacy and benifets is a good thing. I just think the vehicle being used in this situation is a bit preferential . I think using StoryFarm to produce the video featuring a “random” new member would have been far more appropriate.

Best of luck

Do you feel the MD Chamber's partnership with Storyfarm is ethical towards its current and future members? Having John Sherman on various committees etc…would lead me to believe that other Marketing/Video companies will be at a disdvantage within the Chamber. The video seems to be more of a commercial for John's business.

We are thrilled that Storyfarm is partnering with us to produce this video series and share its membership experience with others. All Maryland Chamber members are encouraged to participate in Chamber committees, so no member is disadvantaged by John's participation.

I hope John makes great connections and gains exposure for his company along the way.

We've partnered with other member video production companies like Render Perfect Productions and VPC, and we hope to partner with others in the future. We're always for partners with creative ideas.

Thanks for your comment. Feel free to give me a contact me with any other questions.
