New Maryland Chamber of Commerce member Storyfarm New Media is partnering with us to create a monthly reality video series chronicling the company’s first year of membership.

The goal of the video series is to call attention to the many ways the Maryland Chamber helps member companies grow, while working to enhance the state’s economy and business climate. Follow along as Storyfarm Managing Partner John Sherman attends Maryland Chamber events, connects with other members, gets involved in Chamber committees and activities, and learns more about the organizations legislative advocacy efforts in Annapolis.

Episode Seven: May 2011

In this episode, Storyfarm New Media Managing Partner John Sherman attends the Chamber’s Annual Meeting and Business Hall of Fame Awards Dinner to learn more about new Maryland Chamber Chairman Bill Riley of Reznick Group. He talks to outgoing Chairman Joe Slater of SMECO and new Secretary/Treasurer Sheela Murthy to get an idea of what to expect during Riley’s two-year term as Chairman.

Episode Six: February 2011

In this episode, Storyfarm New Media Managing Partner John Sherman travels to Owings Mills to meet with Chamber Board Member Sheela Murthy, President of Murthy Law Firm. An amazing American success story, Sheela talks about how her firm’s early bet on the Internet in 1996 has led to its position as one of the world’s most heavily trafficked legal websites, with 3 million unique visitors per month! John and Sheela discuss why being based in Maryland has played such a critical role in her success.

Episode Five: January 2011

In this episode, John Sherman from Storyfarm New Media travels to Annapolis for Business Day. It’s a once-a-year event where business owners try to help set the agenda for the upcoming legislative session. The timing of the meeting is critical–key issues dealing with business regulation will be facing lawmakers and the Chamber wants to make sure the businesses voices are heard.

Episode Four: December 2010

Storyfarm New Media Managing Partner John Sherman met Katie Guttierez Miller of Assistant Match during a Chamber 101 event back in October. As a new entrepreneur, John was intrigued by her company and interested in learning more about how using a virtual assistant could ease his administrative workload. In this month’s episode, John invites Katie to his office for a follow up meeting to learn more about Assistant Match’s services, and to help her move closer to joining the Maryland Chamber.

Episode Three: November 2010

Storyfarm Managing Partner John Sherman heads to the Chamber’s annual Business Policy Conference, which was held last week at the Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, MD. The event provides members an opportunity to learn more about important public policy topics that impact the state’s economy and business community. Sherman spoke with Maryland Chamber President Kathy Snyder, Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller and Senate Minority Leader Allan Kittleman to learn more about the best way for business people to approach and communicate with their lawmakers.

Episode Two: October 2010

Episode 2, Storyfarm Managing Partner John Sherman heads to Chamber 101, the introductory event for new Chamber members. Hosted by Baltimore’s Best Events, this Chamber 101 featured more than 30 business. New and prospective members networked and then learned more about the Maryland Chamber and the issues likely to face the business community in the upcoming legislative session.

Episode One: September 2010

In this episode Storyfarm Managing Partner John Sherman begins the series by going to the joint Marketing and Membership committee meeting at McCormick & Company headquarters in Sparks, MD.
