Gross Mendelsohn Celebrates 50th Anniversary

by Will Burns on October 7, 2009

Congratulations to Gross, Mendelsohn & Associates, P.A. This outstanding locally-owned and managed CPA firm celebrates its 50th anniversary this month.

Founded in October 1960 by Jerome A. Gross, CPA, and Martin S. Mendelsohn, CPA, the firm has built its reputation on core values including creative solutions, outstanding client service and the belief in maintaining the highest quality and ethics in the accounting profession. Today, the firm has 15 partners and nearly 100 total personnel.

One mark of the firm’s stability is its successful transition to a second generation of leadership. David A. Goldner, CPA, CFP, CVA, became managing partner of the firm in July 2009, when the founding and managing partners retired.

“The firm’s first generation of leaders left an impressive mark on Gross Mendelsohn’s culture and commitment to the Baltimore business community,” reflects Goldner. “I believe the firm has thrived over the years, in part

, because of those core values that run so deeply through the firm and its people.”

Goldner said the firm has enjoyed a long history of attracting and retaining exceptional clients. Likewise, Gross Mendelsohn has attracted and retained talented partners and employees. With one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the accounting profession, Goldner explains that, “The firm offers a congenial environment for bright and creative people to excel.”

When Gross Mendelsohn opened its doors in 1960, it did so in downtown Baltimore. The firm has remained in Baltimore’s business district, recently renewing its lease at 36 South Charles Street.

Gross Mendelsohn is a full-service CPA and consulting firm serving the complete financial needs of privately-held businesses, nonprofit organizations and families in the Mid-Atlantic region. In addition to offering traditional audit, accounting and tax services, the firm specializes in personal financial planning, litigation support, asset management, business valuation and technology consulting.
